This week we are celebrating International Women’s Day, and shining a light on some of the remarkable women at Hamptons.

Laura Peachey joined Hamptons in 2010 and is now Head of Lettings in the Stanmore office. Aside from her success at work, Laura has a passion for horse riding and has been riding and competing for over 30 years.

Laura began her journey at Hamptons in 2010 in the St Albans office as a Junior Negotiator and worked her way up to eventually reach Associate level. In 2020, she moved over to the Stanmore branch and became their Head of Lettings. Through her determination and skill, Laura has now also taken on two additional offices and manages the Whetstone and Enfield Hamptons offices as well.

Outside of work, Laura’s hobby and sport of interest is horse riding. Horse riding runs in her family and at the young age of three she got her first horse, Bambam. Laura took riding quickly and was very eager to complete in a number of local shows and eventually competing for bigger more national titles.

To complete competitively in horse riding takes persistence and Laura was exactly that. After many years of intense training, Laura found her passion for show jumping and in her early twenties with her horse, Twiggy. Her journey took off from there and her and Twiggy competed in many local events and eventually qualified at Herts County Show Championships for the Open Newcomer. Laura later acquired her current horse, William, and since then the pair have been busy competing in a number of well-known and local championships and won numerous awards. These include Mountain and Mooreland Chiltern and Thames Championships, National British Dressage Finals and they came 3rd in the Regional British Dressage Team Quest and Individual Finals in 2022.

Unfortunately due to a recent injury, Laura is unable to train and compete but again this hasn’t hindered her involvement in the sport. While she recovers, Laura is currently teaching a small group of 3-4 year old children how to ride. She is very keen to get back on the circuit again soon and as soon as she is back to full health is planning to get stuck into show jumping and dressage competitions later in the year.

Although horse riding brings Laura a lot of joy, there are challenges she has had to face along the way. Training is intense and very timing consuming and she has found it tricky at times to juggle this alongside her active day job. However, managing this has taught her many important transferable skills that shaped her from a young age and influenced her development, helping her to build a successful career. The sport has taught her huge responsibility and structure and has trained her to stay focused and to continue to fight even when she has been knocked down at times. She’s always loved horses and she uses her free time to be around them as an escape from reality. It’s also been her place to socialise as she shares her passion with life-long friends and enjoys training and competing alongside them.

Laura’s talent and journey is encouraging for many, she has worked hard and trained for years to exercise her passion for horses and horse riding and has had a lot of fun along the way! She is a true inspiration and someone we are keen to showcase this International Women’s Day in the hope that she may inspire other women to follow their dreams and passions. Thank you for sharing your story Laura.
