International Women's Day 2024

Today we are celebrating International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of women and to promote women’s equality.   At Hamptons, we are committed to creating a workplace that not only supports but also celebrates the invaluable contributions of women.

This year’s theme is Inspire Inclusion. One of the key pillars of the theme is the promotion of diversity in leadership and decision-making positions. Hamptons are proud to have an all-female executive team, who inspire women throughout the business, and in our wider industry. You may remember that last October, Cat was recognised for her achievements at the Inspiring Women in Property Awards. She was honoured with the evening's highest accolade, Woman of the Year. On her award, the judges credited Cat as someone who “puts in significant work to level the playing field for women in the industry” and is someone who leads by example. A true ally of women in business, passionate about  championing female representation within our sector.

Hamptons continues its commitment to being a fair and equitable organisation, with inclusive leadership training to all line managers, hybrid and flexible work opportunities, and annual EDI training

This year, we have launched Colleague Affinity Groups, a vital part of our wider Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy. The Women’s Affinity Group is a platform designed to unite, inspire and support the women of Hamptons.

Spearheading this initiative is Emma Johnson from Tunbridge Wells, who leads the Women’s Affinity Group to create a supportive environment. “Together, we can contribute towards the culture of the business”, Emma states. She is committed to fostering a vibrant, diverse community where women feel heard, valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.

The affinity group includes women from across the business, from different ages, backgrounds, experience, and roles.  Many joined the group to cultivate an empowering environment at Hamptons. Olivia Meredith from Tunbridge Wells said, “My aim is to gain insight into the diverse array of challenges women face on a day-to-day basis and to support our community of amazing women”.

Johanna Cole from Marlborough echoes this statement, saying, “If we are able to better understand each other we are better able to cope in the face of adversity”. Vanessa Price from Painswick shares her vision, "I have enlisted in the women's group to offer my seven-year experience at Hamptons as a platform to discuss the challenges and triumphs encountered as a woman in the workplace." Her aim aligns perfectly with our goals – to cultivate a dynamic and secure space for female empowerment and professional development.

Our colleague who moved from India to the UK, and has grown through her roles at Hamptons, reflects on her journey of becoming a strong, independent woman. She said, “I have seen many hardworking and inspiring women in the departments I have worked [at Hamptons].” She is grateful for the support from the women in the Finance team, which has helped her to achieve her goals both personally and professionally.

Fiona Bradfield from Tunbridge Wells sees the group as an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive community, striving for empowerment, advocacy, and mentorship among the women within Hamptons. Collaboration is a key pillar of the Affinity Group, with Ameesha Florant and Olivia Lindsay both mentioning the connection with other women as part of their reason for joining.

The women in the affinity group aim to foster a network of support and advocacy. They will represent the women at Hamptons, elevating women’s voices and championing their achievements. Let’s pause today to reflect on the progress we have made towards inclusion and the journey ahead.

Happy International Women’s Day!
