This week we are celebrating International Women’s Day, and shining a light on some of the remarkable women at Hamptons.

Shannon Prince is a dedicated administrator in Islington, and an aspiring artist outside of work.

Shannon joined Hamptons three years ago as an administrator in Muswell Hill. Her sister, Leanne Prince, who joined Hamptons as a Regional Administrative Manager in 2017, recommended a role as an admin in Muswell Hill. Shannon has since moved to Islington, where she loves the team and the buzzy atmosphere of the area.

On top of being a capable administrator who is confident in managing the fast paced Islington office, Shannon has artistic pursuits outside of work. As a child, Shannon was always drawing, and the habit didn’t stop as she grew. Throughout school, Shannon studied art, and could draw for hours on end without feeling like any time had passed.

However, as she transitioned to a full-time job she struggled to find the same level of creativity at work. After years of deliberation, Shannon decided to follow her passion and enrol in an Atelier school in Battersea. She attends every Saturday to learn new skills, find her confidence and style, and practice classic techniques under the eye of a master painter.

Shannon is drawn to portraiture, figure and landscapes. She draws with charcoal, and is learning to paint with oil paints. In her paintings, she likes to show the balance in things, the beauty in what we may see as ugly, and the ugly in what we may see as beauty.

Shannon is incredibly disciplined, and practises her new skills for a couple of hours most nights after work. She says it’s hugely beneficial to her mental health and finds it an effective way to calm her busy mind. Shannon dreams of continuing her creativity alongside her role at Hamptons, eventually wanting to become a full time painter and curator. Shannon is a lovely example of a very talented woman we have in the business, who eloquently balances her work and artistic passions. Thank you Shannon for sharing your story.
