Increased Demand from Brits Looking to Buy a Dream Home in France
Latest figures from leading residential agent, Hamptons International reveal that demand for properties in France has increased by 20 per cent compared with the same time last year. These figures also show that more than a quarter of all international enquiries from UK buyers relate to France, which is more enquires than for any other country outside of the UK.
Last year the most popular destination for Brits buying in France was the Provence Alps Cote d’ Azur (PACA) which accounted for 33 per cent of all Brits moving to France. Less than half of these, (15 per cent) bought in the Alps whilst 12 per cent bought in the capital city of Paris.
As one of the top second home destinations for British buyers looking to purchase abroad, Hamptons International has over 10,000 properties available to buy in France in a range of popular locations from Aquitaine, Dordogne and Brittany to Cote D’Azur and Corsica, and a broad price range from £50k right up to £15million.
Maribeth Long, Head of International Sales at Hamptons International says: “Over the past year, we’ve seen a notable increase in prospective buyers enquiring about French property. France has some of the world’s most beautiful properties and Brits are without doubt attracted by the lifestyle, the close proximity to the UK and the attractive homes which present good value for money.”
Maribeth, of Hamptons International continues: “Brits buying abroad are particularly interested in those locations where they can get more bang for their buck! With this is mind France is undoubtedly a great choice for a British buyer - over the last 12 months we have seen prices have fall by 1.7 per cent, with even bigger falls in the more rural areas. This combined by the weather and a more relaxed way of life should put France on the top of any buyers list!”
As a direct result of the acute demand for properties in France, Hamptons International has hosted regular French Property Seminars designed to introduce French properties to prospective purchases as well as provide usual information on the buying process in France. The French Property Seminars have taken place in Bath, Battersea and Amersham, with a further two events taking place in July in both Oxford on the 21st July and Sevenoaks on the 22nd July 2014.
