In person Viewings and Valuations

Our response following the Government's announcement

The Government has announced that people living in England who wish to move house can now do so and in person viewings and valuations can take place with clear safety guidelines published here. See full details of the official government guidelines.

Hamptons will be adhering strictly to these guidelines and have put in place plans to ensure the safety of our staff, clients and suppliers.

We now have staff working in our offices across the Hamptons network, however, our offices are not open to the public and we will not be allowing visitors in for the time being. Should you wish to arrange an appointment, please contact your local branch via the usual channels of email or telephone. You can locate your nearest branch.

In the first instance, and where possible, all viewings and valuations will be carried out virtually via video or over the phone. However, if your initial viewing and valuation leads you to want an in person meeting we will be taking the below steps to ensure the safety of both our employees and our customers:

For All Customers

  1. There should only be maximum of two people present at the time of a booked appointment.
  2. Discussions will take place outside where possible.
  3. Our staff will be wearing PPE including masks and gloves.
  4. We request that you respect social distancing measures at all times and remain two meters from your Estate Agent when an in person meeting is being carried out.
  5. Prior to an in person valuation or viewing taking place your Hamptons contact will send you a confirmation email providing more details on how your meeting will be carried out safely.

For Vendors and Landlords

  1. We request that all internal doors of your property are left open throughout for both valuations and viewings – this will help with ventilation and limit contact with surfaces.
  2. Homeowners/occupiers MUST clean the property surfaces prior to valuation.
  3. All pets should be contained and not free to roam during valuations and viewings.
  4. When viewings are conducted you will be asked to vacate the property where possible e.g. go for a walk/sit in the garden.
  5. If you remain in the property whilst the valuation is taking place we request that you wear a mask and gloves where possible.
  6. If your property is vacant and has been so for more than 72 hours then the above may not apply. Please seek clarification from your Hamptons contact.

For Buyers and Renters

  • Please make your own way to the property and try to avoid public transport, at this time we are unable to offer transport.
  • We will not be able to carry out any in person viewings with anyone under the age of 18.
  • We will be trying to limit viewings to a reasonable time (around 15-20 minutes, but this may vary in accordance to the size of the property).
  • We request that when on a viewing you wear gloves and a mask where possible.
  • On arriving at a property both our staff and viewers must wash hands, or use own hand sanitiser and you will be asked to remove your shoes.
