This is one of our Country Houses
Located at the end of a leafy private road on the edge of Loudwater, Timberdene is ideally placed to take full advantage of what appears to be a rural location yet close to both Chorleywood and Rickmansworth. An electric gate opens onto a sweeping gravel driveway which leads up to the house through beautifully tended gardens displaying an array of trees including cherry, apple and a large willow.
The house was rebuilt and extended by the current owners in the early 1990s. In 2014 the house was refurbished using the finest materials such as porcelain and natural slate flooring in many rooms and oak flooring in the sitting room. The dining room features an open fire with white brick surround.
The galleried staircase rises from the entrance hall to the first floor and six bedrooms. The master bedroom effuses a sense of luxury with two dressing rooms and an en suite bathroom where the free-standing bathtub and in-floor lighting make for a peaceful environment. The second bedroom has an en suite shower room and one of the bedrooms has a Jack and Jill bathroom which also opens onto the landing. Three further bedrooms and a family bathroom complete the first floor accommodation. A “space-saver” staircase leads to the second floor games room.
The property is situated in a highly desirable setting within Loudwater, near Rickmansworth which has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, with further options available in Watford. Nearby schooling is of a high calibre, particularly Merchant Taylors school for Boys, the Royal Masonic School for Girls and the Watford grammar schools. Watford Junction, Rickmansworth and Croxley stations offer fast commuter connections via Network Rail, the Chiltern Mainline and Metropolitan underground. Points of interest are the excellent selection of country walks on the doorstep. The well-regarded Moor Park golf course is only a short drive away and so is The Grove; one of south east England’s premier country clubs and golf courses.
A path covered by a pergola leads to the annexe and the housekeeper’s accommodation; a kitchen, bedsitting room and shower room. Separate external access opens to two offices and a cloakroom with storage above. A garage adjoins the offices. The vista at the rear of the house is stunning; a large level lawn extending to the swimming pool and adjacent tennis court. The open fireplace by the pool and a dining area set the ambiance for relaxing family entertainment. There is also a summerhouse which is currently used as an artist’s studio. The scene is enhanced by attractive plantings throughout and a selection of mature trees including an elm.
