This is one of our Country Houses
The Crossways is a detached, 1930s home with five/six bedrooms set in mature gardens and grounds with wonderful outdoor amenities including a swimming pool and tennis court. A truly fabulous home for a family who want to enjoy the space that living in the Hampshire countryside can really offer.
Set over two floors the accommodation is nicely balanced with a general feeling of space and light. The kitchen/breakfast room is the heart of the house and provides a great space for everyday family life and entertaining on a larger scale. It enjoys views towards the terrace and the swimming pool. Practicalities are also taken care of with a pantry and a utility/boot room accessed off the kitchen.
The drawing room with its arch framing the views over the garden and towards the tennis court is a lovely room with an open fire place and very much in keeping with the age of the home. A further family room and study offer flexibility of use depending on one’s needs.
The spacious landing has fitted storage and leads to the master bedroom suite with views over the Rookesbury Park Estate, a dressing room with fitted cupboards and a good sized en-suite shower room. There is a second bedroom with ensuite shower room, and a third bedroom leading onto a fourth bedroom/hobbies room. There are two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.
Situated on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Wickham is surrounded by the attractive countryside of the Meon Valley yet within easy reach of the cities of Winchester (15.6 miles), Southampton (about 12 miles) and Portsmouth (about 10 miles). The village itself offers good day to day amenities with the thriving Square providing a variety of local shops, businesses and restaurants. Communication links are first class with rail services into London Waterloo from Winchester (15.6 miles), Southampton Parkway (11 miles) or Botley (3 miles). The M27 and M3 provide access to Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke and London and Southampton Airport. Outdoor pursuits are well catered for with a variety of recreational activities in the area, especially walking, riding and sailing on the south coast.
A fabulous feature of this delightful family home are the private gardens and outdoor amenities on offer. The grounds extend to circa 1.5 acres and are home to wonderfully established trees and
shrub borders with level lawns. The terrace, with its own fire pit to help with those crisper summer evenings, and the swimming pool are easily accessible from the main house and can be viewed from the kitchen/breakfast room. The swimming pool is heated and has an electric cover both for ease of use and safety. Leading through the gardens you reach the tennis court which has been
well maintained and was resurfaced approximately 5 years ago.
The garage with annex accommodation houses an independent boiler and the pool equipment. The annex itself offers a ground floor kitchen with breakfast area with an adjoining shower room.
The first floor is an open space with flexibility of use as bedroom accommodation, entertaining space or for those that need a home working set-up. There are open views towards the swimming pool and the fields beyond.
Mains gas and electricity, private drainage – complete drainage refurbishment in December 2016 including installation of “Solido” Sewage Treatment Plant which complies with new drainage regulations.
