This is one of our Country Houses
Navaho is situated on one of Compton’s most desirable roads with fabulous views from the first floor of the property across to Winchester and the Cathedral. The house sits comfortably in its mature plot which totals approximately 0.5 acre and is set well back from the no through road from which the property is accessed. The house itself was built in the 1970s and was designed and built to take into consideration its elevated position and views.
The accommodation is laid out over three floors with the principal open plan reception room on the first floor divided by a central fireplace which can be seen from both rooms and the kitchen. These rooms enjoy good ceiling heights and a general feeling of light and space. On the dining room side there are doors opening onto the decked terrace overlooking the south facing garden whilst the sitting room end makes the most of the open view with sizeable picture windows. The first floor also has three good sized bedrooms all situated to the front of the property and thus enjoying the views toward the Cathedral. These bedrooms are served by a family bathroom on this level. The second floor has a master suite with en suite bathroom and a range of built-in wardrobes and a further bedroom with wardrobes and access through to usable loft storage space. The ground floor has a nicely proportioned reception hall with access to the rear garden and a shower room. The hall provides internal access to the integral garage and the one bedroom, self-contained annexe accommodation which also benefits from its own private entrance. Navaho is a very special home in a unique position and wonderful private gardens.
Compton is considered to be one of the prime residential areas of Winchester, offering substantial properties in a desirable setting and yet it is within easy reach of Winchester city centre (1.5 miles) and the wide range of extensive amenities and excellent cultural and leisure facilities it has to offer. The area offers a number of highly regarded schooling facilities with a superb primary school in the village and a number of first class state and private schools in nearby Winchester and Twyford, including Winchester College, Pilgrims, St Swithun’s School, Peter Symonds College and Twyford Prep. The mainline railway station in Shawford (0.8 miles) offers direct rail access to London Waterloo (about one hour). Junction 11 of the M3 provides road access to London and the south coast and Southampton International Airport offers daily flights to a variety of domestic and European destinations.
Navaho sits centrally in mature gardens with the total plot extending to about 0.5 acre. The house is approached via a shingle driveway providing ample parking directly in front of the property. The gardens to the front are lawned with mature hedging and shrubs. The rear gardens are accessed via the side of the property and from the reception hall and sitting/dining room. A pretty terraced area is ideal for al fresco entertaining
with steps up to the main lawn. The garden enjoys seclusion from neighbours with mature hedgerows and trees. From the first floor there are doors onto a decked roof terrace which makes for a stunning sun trap and has just a few short steps down to the main lawn.
