5 Bedroom Detached House, Turville, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 6QP

Tenure Type: Freehold

Property Description

EQUESTRIAN - Ashfield Barn is a brick and flint barn conversion set in the heart of the Hambleden Valley with uninterrupted far reaching views, positioned on the outskirts of the famed village of Turville. Entering the property into the wonderfully light and airy entrance hall, with vaulted ceiling, the elegant presentation displays perfectly the combined originality of the barn with the modern elements of day to day living; a feature displayed throughout. The drawing room lies directly off the entrance hall running the full width of the house with French doors opening on to a York stone patio. The drawing room connects directly to the dining room that boasts spectacular views along the valley. From here there is a connection to the entrance hall where lies a cloakroom and a separate door provides the access to a playroom, utility room and the kitchen breakfast room. The kitchen has a limestone floor and features a functional island unit with a granite work surface, inset sink and storage cupboards. Along the back wall is a gas, range style cooker with further kitchen units beneath a granite work surface. French doors provide an access to a further patio and the gardens beyond. Above the kitchen, there are two of the five bedrooms which are served by a shower room.

Rising to the first floor from the entrance hall, there is a half landing where a separate set of stairs lead off to the study where further commanding views of the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed. The master bedroom displays beautifully the origins of the barn with exposed oak beams. Steps lead down to an en-suite bathroom which also has a separate shower. Two further bedrooms are served by a family bathroom.

This property is featured by our Equestrian department.

Situation
Ashfield Barn sits on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Turville, which is set in the ever popular Hambleden Valley. The village dates back to the 16th century, with St Mary the Virgin church being at its heart. Turville has been the setting for many popular television series and films including the ‘Vicar of Dibley’. The Bull and Butcher public house is a great venue and within walking distance. Marlow and Henley on Thames are about 8 miles equal- distant, with both towns offering excellent shopping facilities, bars and restaurants. State and private education locally are excellent, with Buckinghamshire retaining its grammar school system. The village supports a well-regarded pre-school nursery. Trains to Marylebone run regularly from High Wycombe (about 8 miles) and journey times are approximately 26 minutes. Alternatively, fast trains from Reading to Paddington take approximately 30 minutes and there is also a service from Henley on Thames. Cross rail arrives in Reading during 2019. The surrounding countryside abounds with paths and bridleways for walking, cycling and riding over the Chiltern hills. The M40 is available at Stokenchurch, J5. Also the London Tube has a pick up and drop off point near Lewknor.

Outside
The grounds extend to 1.43 acres and are a combination of gardens and paddocks. There is a double five bar gate that opens on to a gravel drive that leads to a parking area and an underground garage. Within the garage is a stable and store room behind. There is a separate stable located on the drive. The land is mainly bounded with post and rail fencing thereby creating a wonderful sense of connection to the surrounding countryside. Immediately off the rear of the house there are patio areas ideal for entertaining.
