A beautifully appointed family house, in a secluded yet extremely convenient location, close to the centre of Haslemere. Originally built in the 1930's, this Rhodes house has been extensively extended refurbished and improved over the years and offers perfect family accommodation. The kitchen/breakfast room is a bright, welcoming space and very much the hub of the house. A family/playroom leads directly off the kitchen, and there is direct access to the garden facing south west. Upstairs in the main house there are 5 excellent bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The indoor swimming pool is a magnificent feature, again with doors giving access to the gardens.
In addition, there is a self contained annexe cottage with 2 bedrooms, a sitting room, kitchen, and shower room, likewise beautifully appointed, and ideal for guests, or extended family.
Situation
The house is situated at the top of Haste Hill, only about three quarters of a mile from Haslemere town centre and 1 mile from the mainline station with a regular service to London Waterloo in under an hour.
Haslemere offers a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities and there are excellent schools locally, both in the state and private sector. Highfield, Amesbury and St Ives are very convenient, and slightly further afield, are Barrow Hills, Cranleigh, Charterhouse, Priorsfield and St Catherine’s to name but a few.
The A3 can be accessed nearby at Hindhead, and provides fast driving to London, and via the M25, both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
The area in general is renowned for its outstanding countryside, much of which is in the ownership of The National Trust. For the walking, riding and cycling enthusiast, there are numerous paths and bridleways through this landscape, with spectacular views, particularly from the top of Blackdown.
Outside
Access is through electric gates and along a long drive sweeping through the grounds and with extensive parking to the front and side of the house. The principal gardens are to the south and west of the house and have been expertly designed, landscaped, and planted with beautiful mature specimen trees, shrubs and flower borders. There are large areas of level lawn and a wonderful sun-trap terrace adjacent to the rear elevation of the house and the swimming pool.
Within the garden is a well appointed timber cabin with power and light which has been utilised for various purposes including a home office. There is also a secure tractor shed attached.
A gate in the rear boundary opens to a strip of land which connects to the top of Tennysons Lane, and can be used as a shortcut to the many acres of local National Trust countryside.
In all, the secluded grounds extend to about 1.3 acres.
