This is one of our Country Houses
As its name implies, Mount House sits atop a high point on one of Beaconsfield’s most exclusive and quiet residential streets. Upon entering, one is struck by the atmosphere of serenity.
The house was recently refurbished and the craftsmanship is of the very highest standard. A lot of thought was given to capitalising on natural light and creating a contemporary home along classic lines. The use of broad natural wooden floorboards throughout the ground floor and the wood-burning stove in the drawing room contribute to the warm feel of the house.
The reception hall provides access to the principal ground floor rooms and the spectacular kitchen with its vaulted ceiling and fitted Poggenpohl units is located beyond the dining room. French doors in the kitchen room, family room and drawing
room can all be thrown open to make the most of the terraced area at the back of the house; the ideal spot for summer entertaining. At the front of the house, the sitting room and study benefit from large bay windows, allowing light to stream into
the rooms. The magnificent floating staircase rises from the reception hall to the landing and then the four bedrooms suites on the first floor. The master bedroom suite is particularly impressive with
a large, well-equipped dressing room and spacious master bathroom suite. Much of the cabinetry throughout the house was hand-made by Neville Johnson, notably the dressing room, wardrobes and units in the study. Second floor accommodation comprises the fifth bedroom and en suite shower room, creating the perfect haven for a teenager or guest. It has a balcony offering far-reaching views of the surroundings.
Mount House is perfectly placed to take advantage of everything that Beaconsfield and the Old Town have to offer, whilst also offering a fast rail service into London. There is a wealth of restaurants and cafés close at hand as well as a range of shops including Waitrose and Marks & Spencer. Sporting
interests are catered for by David Lloyd in Wooburn Green with a gym, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Additional sports facilities are available at Stoke Park and there are golf courses
at Beaconsfield, Wycombe Heights and Hazlemere. Highly regarded private and state schools include Davenies School for boys, High March School for girls, Beaconsfield High School and Dr Challoner’s High School for girls.
Access to the house is gained via electric gates and a sweepingforecourt with space to park several cars. The areas to thesides of the driveway are landscaped and there is a walkwayat the side of the house leading to the terrace at the rear whichspans the width of the house. Steps lead from the terrace up tothe tiered gardens which are laid mainly to lawn and include aselection of attractive mature trees and shrubs as well as raisedflower beds.Additionally, a separate building houses a triple garage/annexe which offers ideal accommodation for guests or an au pair.
