Aldern Bridge Lodge is a beautiful strawberry gothic style Victorian lodge. The original house used to be the old lodge house to Sandleford Estate during the Victorian times and early 20th century. However the current owners have extended the property over the years to give spacious accommodation whilst keeping the original character.
On entering the property you will find a large porch area leading into a hallway or straight into the stylish dining room with wood burning stove, this in turn leads through to the kitchen/breakfast room with a utility room. There is also a sitting room/snug which leads back through to the main hallway with double doors out onto the patio and garden. The stunning drawing room and conservatory extension to the rear offers the feeling of space and light to the lodge.
Also, to the rear of the property is the large master bedroom en-suite with an outlook over the garden and woodland beyond. There are four further double bedrooms which are all served by the family bathroom. A study and WC completes the internal accommodation.
Situated on the southern fringes of Newbury amongst open countryside and woodland, Aldern Bridge Lodge has stunning views and with walks over the common straight from the door. The property is most accessible to both the town, retail park and the major trunk roads. Newbury offers a wide and growing array of shops and restaurants to include the new Parkway shopping complex. The town is dissected by the Kennet and Avon canal with lovely walking and also offers a great day out at the Newbury Race Course. The town offers mainline rail access to London Paddington and good road links to include the M4 and A34 as well as a great selection of private schools including St Gabriels, Cheam, Elstree, Horris Hill, Downe House and Brockhurst.
The property is set in just over 10 acres of grounds on a gentle southerly slope overlooking the river Enborne which forms the southern boundary.
The land is a haven for wildlife and consists of many sections, the first being a lovely garden area next to the house which is mainly laid to lawn with a patio area and many colourful plants, shrubs and trees with attractive views over the pond and SSSI woodland beyond. The rest of the land consists of a large lily/wildlife pond, pasture land, woodland and fishing rights (500 yards, single bank) on the river Enborne - the river varies from shallow gravel areas to some small deep pools, which hold wild brown trout. The lodge and land is shielded from the road by a belt of woodland surrounding the property.
To the side of the property there is private access through double gates to a large garage, a spacious private parking area, and a mobile stable and tack room. Additional access to the grounds is through a field gate located further down the road.
