Set in the heart of the Welsh Back in the centre of Bristol, this fabulous 3 bedroom vessel epitomizes city living at its best. Originally manufactured in Holland in 1923, Beachley is an 88 ft long Dutch barge that has undergone full out of water survey and restoration and comes with a full residential mooring. Due to its wide hull, the vessel offers a surprising amount of space and once inside you could be forgiven for thinking that you are in a stylish yet charming waterside cottage.
Entering the top deck via the remote control gang-plank, you’ll enter the accommodation starting with the newly re-built wheelhouse and find the bright modern kitchen/diner, benefiting from masses of light, thanks to its 360 degree aspect.
The staircase leads you down to a cosy snug area, equipped with a stunning feature wood burner, enhancing this room’s warm and welcoming appeal. Delightful stained glass windows offer views over the water. This space could also double up as the perfect study.
The lower deck offers a fabulously voluminous main reception room with a multitude of skylight windows and brilliant ceiling height. Exposed floorboards and beams add to the character of this splendid space.
The master bedroom is spacious and has the benefit of a contemporary en-suite shower room and plenty of storage,
Just off of the snug are two double cabin/bedrooms with authentic porthole windows. The family bathroom emanates a modern yet classic style plus a Victorian-style roll top bath. This room offers a handy utility cupboard with space for washing machine and tumble-dryer and storage racking.
The barge has been completely renovated throughout including repainting and new carpets, tiled floors, light fittings and radiators. The vessel has been relined and fully insulated. The hull has undergone a full re-build covering all aspects of the structural integrity. A new PU solar panel system has been installed providing electricity and feeding back to the National Grid, heating is supplied by a recently installed air source heating system and solar panels, and the boat is connected to the mains drains system.
Ideally located to make the most of the city centre location, Beachley is located on Welsh Back, one road back from the beautiful Georgian ‘Queens Square’ which in turn leads to the Bristol theatre district. There are a number of fantastic restaurants, bars and amenities on Kings Street and the Harbourside. Temple Meads Train Station, with fast connections to London, is only 0.5 miles away.
Outside offers a beautiful rear deck potted garden area, with canopy, accessed from the kitchen. The aft deck houses the air source heat pump. On the fore deck are the newly installed solar panels. A platform has been added to the waterside of the hull to allow access too and from a small boat or canoe. There is also off street parking on Welsh Back and further residents parking permits are available.
