Ashford’s Tower is an historic and unique Grade II Listed tower. The original Bath stone country house was added to by the Ashford family in the late 19th Century with the tower being built in 1881 as a folly and a place to observe the stars. The Moorlands, as it is now named, was converted in 2001 to create sixteen apartments who all share the freehold of the building and the one and a half acres of parkland.
The property is approached off Englishcombe Lane down a shared drive leading to private electric gates of The Moorlands flanked by landscaped gardens. The drive follows around the property to a designated parking area for home owners and guest. The gardens are of particular note with a variety of seating areas so the residents can choose a private area to relax. The gardens are laid to lawn and interspersed with specimen trees and flower borders. To the front of the Tower is a south facing walled courtyard that the owners have always enjoyed the sole use of, it is unofficially divided in half for the Tower and the adjacent apartment.
Through this courtyard there is the private entrance to the Tower. The stair case leads up to first floor housing the second bedroom with a pleasant aspect across the gardens to the front. The floor above is the master bedroom suite which includes a landing area and bathroom within the tower with a few steps up to the bedroom area. The kitchen is situated on the third floor. It is well designed with fitted units, integral appliances and space for a breakfast table. The room above is a music room/study with a triple aspect with far reaching views. At the top there is a stunning quadruple aspect room with wonderful views especially towards the west over the surrounding hills of Bath with the historic landmark of Beckford’s Tower in the distance.
