Cudworth Manor is a charming and romantically situated moated manor house sitting on its own island, surrounded by an ancient moat, which is being sold together with a Lord/Ladyship of the Manor of Cudworth. Houses of import have occupied the site since medieval times with the origins of the present house dating from the sixteenth century. Long occupied as a farm, the gentleman’s house was added to at various times during the following centuries and is now Listed Grade II.The later additions marry together very well with the older origins which includes the diamond leaded light casement windows.
In recent times the house underwent a programme of restoration, which has recently been improved upon, including the installation of a contemporary kitchen and the upgrading of some bathrooms. Ceilings are of good height and windows large, which together with a wealth of period detailing and exposed oak timbers, afford the house a wonderfully warm atmosphere and makes for an excellent family home.
The house and main garden sit on an island surrounded by the charming moat. From the parking area a covered brick bridge with solid medieval style studded oak door crosses the moat and has a brick path leading to the house. The formal garden has a large level lawn with rose beds, raised flower beds – with irrigation system - a filtered pond and magnificent mature trees. There is a large terrace to one end adjoining the moat which is ideal for outdoor dining and has a Summer House and brick built storage. An ornamental wooden bridge leads over the moat to the land beyond. There are paddocks, a ménage and a variety of outbuildings. A large pond is stocked with fish.
Beyond the main parking area, there are two further exits on to adjoining lanes and a detached garaging.
AGENTS NOTE: There are a number of outbuildings, temporary accomodation units and stabling, erected on the estate which do not have planning permission or listed building consent.
