East Sheen, SW14, also known as Sheen and Sheen Parkside, is an affluent suburb of the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, nestled between Barnes and Richmond, and bounded by the Thames to the North and Richmond Park to the South.
The main high street is the Upper Richmond Road West which provides small boutiques, larger clothing shops, delicatessens, restaurants and supermarkets. Central to the area is a small square, known as The Triangle, with a war memorial, and an old milestone. For the commuter, there are great transport links including Mortlake Station (National Rail) providing services to Clapham Junction and Waterloo, with easy access to the A4 making Heathrow only 13 miles away.
The area boasts a range of excellent state and private schools, including both German and Swedish Schools. There are numerous open green spaces including Richmond Park with its 2,500 acres of deer inhabited park and woodland, golf course and polo pitch: Palewell Common with its tennis courts, pitch and put course, playground and playing fields, and East Sheen Common with its cricket pitch and tennis courts, which leads onto Bog Gate, a secluded wooded entrance to Richmond Park. It is no wonder that this is such a popular location for families.
The diverse and eclectic mix of property styles, including the charming Victorian Cottages of Mortlake and the "Royals" area, to the large Edwardian and 1920's family houses on the Parkside of Sheen helps make this an appealing area for both first-time buyers and families alike.
