Stratford-upon-Avon is an ancient market town founded by the Saxons in the Middle Ages, later made famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare on 23rd April 1564.
The town and surrounding villages of South Warwickshire have their own distinctive vernacular architecture that clearly defines the development of the area through the ages.
