With superb transport links and a substantial and on-going programme of regeneration, this is arguably the most central of the various up and coming neighbourhoods in London. Just south of St James Park and neighbouring Belgravia the area is the location of significant historic buildings including the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey & the Tate Britain. The new American Embassy is due to open its doors just to the south of Pimlico in Nine Elms which has seen the creation of 16,000 new residential homes, offices and retail space including the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station.
Our office is situated close to the main transport hub – Victoria Station, which gives direct access to Gatwick Airport via the Gatwick Express – and is on the edge of Pimlico. The area is notable for its striking early Victorian architecture and its grid layout envisaged by Thomas Cubitt in 1824. Quiet white stucco terraces dominate the area giving a village like tranquil atmosphere under the protection of a conservation order (Some buildings are Grade II listed).
Victoria Street is the main artery leading from the Station up to Parliament Square and has undergone extensive re-development as part of Land Securities £2 billion investment which has created 2.2 million square feet of office, residential and retail space. The area has been described as London’s fashion headquarters with Tom Ford, Bally, Burberry & Jimmy Choo all choosing to base their offices within the area. The huge building programme has transformed Westminster over the past ten years into a highly desirable residential hotspot, with a mix of modern apartment buildings alongside late Victorian mansion apartments and some surviving Georgian and Victorian terraces. The area is popular with a diverse range of buyers, including homeowners, attracted by excellent schools and domestic and international buyers booking for pied-a-terre’s & investments.
