Perfect Lockdown Homes

With lockdown 3.0 fully underway is it safe to say we have been spending more time in our homes than ever before. For many it has now become a case of ‘how do I make this better’ instead of ‘when will this end’. So what’s on people’s wish lists for home facilities during lockdown? It could be living close to nature and being able to walk around in the greenery, or having a top of the range home cinema to binge watch the latest series. We had a look at some of the lockdown property trends people are benefitting from during this time.

At the moment it seems as though walking is the only thing that is not restricted, so ideally people living near a park or even having the countryside on their doorstep are appreciating this now more than ever. With spring fast approaching, properties near nature walks offer the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and take in the fresh air.

Woolmerston House, Somerset

This stunning Georgian home overlooks the rolling hills of Somerset and is just outside of Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property’s location benefits from an exceptional array of outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling and equestrian facilities.

Following an indulging Christmas, one of the top New Year’s resolutions is to get into shape. This year, with the closures of gyms it has been a struggle for people to stay motivated. Having a home gym has been very popular as it removes those boundaries and allows people to stay fit and active.

Test Valley, Winchester

This impressive home located in the Test Valley benefits from a leisure wing which includes a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool and sauna.

Another popular property trend to come out of the pandemic are swimming lakes, Joanna Cocking, Head of Prime Country Sales says:

“If you’d asked me three years ago if people searching for a country house want houses with swimming pools, I’d have said, ‘Maybe if it’s indoor.’ Now I’ve seen a real advent of people saying, ‘Oooh, it’s got a lake! Can you swim in it?”

With all of us becoming more connected to our homes and not being able to jet off, people are reflecting on what they have at home to fill the gap. Swimming lakes are the new status symbol, being lucky enough to have that holiday feeling in the comfort of your own home is something you cannot beat.

Windmill Lane, Arkley

This stunning arts and crafts property is located in one of the finest plots in the local area of Arkley in North London and sits in 5.5 acres of beautiful grounds which includes two picture-perfect lakes.

A final feature in the perfect lockdown home is a cinema, nothing sounds more appealing the winter months than cosying up and watching a great film. Some properties benefit from having the space to create the ideal spot for this. A home cinema has definitely been high up on the wish list for many in the past but the demand has now increased given that the concept of socialising is currently non-existent.

Christchurch Road, Virginia Water

This very impressive property in Virginia Water has various facilities to keep you entertained throughout lockdown. This includes a comfortable cinema room which is ideal for lockdown nights at home.
