Indoor/outdoor entertaining spaces

As we enter spring and restrictions start to ease, it is time to start getting excited about what’s to come. We can now move from our cosy sofas to our bright and beautiful gardens and begin to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather once again. Although let’s not get ahead of ourselves, we are in the UK after all and the weather tends to be slightly temperamental! The ideal entertaining space for the spring are those which offer an outdoor dining experience indoors. Such as, areas full of light, same level access to a garden, or floor to ceiling doors which creates the illusion of being outside.

We have put together various tips on how to make the most of these areas in your home and keep them looking presentable when hosting endless brunches and dinners with family and friends over the warmer months. Our top tip is light – let the natural light shine in where it can and avoid covering windows with furniture, or perhaps get creative with mirrors to accentuate the natural light that is available. Indoor plants and flowers are also a great way to add colour and the outdoor feel to your indoor space, why not try colour-coordinating your plants to wow your guests and create a scene that is visually striking. Another tip is as simple as opening a door. Creating that opening to your outside space can be enough; bi-fold doors are a great feature that allows the inside to flow seamless into the outdoors. This leads nicely onto our next piece of advice which is to take into consideration the view from your indoor seating area, whether it is a garden or balcony, make it look presentable and a view to enjoy.

A recent trend that has come to our attention is ‘tablescaping’, this is essentially the art of dressing your table. It is a great way to impress your guests as a beautifully laid table can make such a difference and create a wonderful atmosphere and dining experience. Some creative examples include stand-out centrepieces, elegant candle holders and colourful napkins, just to name a few. Such simple details can make a huge difference when presenting your beautiful entertaining space.

Overall, it all comes down to embracing the space you have and working with this to create a lovely environment for you to enjoy with your guests. Find some examples here, of properties that Hamptons have had in the market:
