More than a Third of London Landlords Live Outside the Capital
More than a third (38%) of all landlords letting property in London live outside of the capital, according to new research from Hamptons International.
The research, conducted to mark Hamptons International’s latest Lettings campaign to attract landlords living outside London, reveals that almost half (42%) of London investors live in the South East of the UK, with Hertfordshire topping the tables as most popular county for landlords to live.
Of the total number of landlords renting property in London but living outside of the UK, 13 per cent currently reside overseas including Hong Kong, Singapore and the US.
Lesley Cairns, Head of Lettings at Hamptons International, says:“The strength of the London property market has long attracted those interested in buy-to-let investment from both the UK and around the globe. With a large supply of tenants and strong growth potential for property prices, London offers a secure and robust market for long term investment.
“The capital also remains an attractive and cosmopolitan city for international tenants to live, work and play, in fact, more than half of tenants (56%) over the last 12 months have been from abroad. Interestingly, last year Hamptons International let properties to tenants from a total of 106 different countries.”
