This is one of our Country Houses
Kensington House is a beautifully restored Grade II listed Regency town house of classic proportions, located in a prominent position within one of Cheltenham's most elegant and prestigious terraces.
The accommodation has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard, and the light decor enhances the beautiful period features to create a contemporary feel. The floor plan of the house allows for practical family living and makes the most of the spacious rooms. Being arranged over four floors there is the flexibility to use the living accommodation to suit your lifestyle.
An impressive entrance vestibule opens to the hall and elegant staircase. From the hall the kitchen/breakfast room is a light sunny room with beautifully crafted cupboards, fitted units and a large central island from which to sit and admire the view over Imperial Gardens. The dining room is directly adjacent to the kitchen plus there is practical utility space on the hall level along with an inner hall/boot room which gives access to the rear garden and secure parking.
On the first floor the impressive drawing room has full height triple sash windows with shutters and a wrought iron balcony with views over the park to Montpellier beyond. This is a large room with ornate ceiling cornice and a handsome fireplace. A sitting room next door offers a snug TV room or potential study if required. There is a further room on the lower ground floor that could be used as a family/TV room or bedroom to suit.
The master bedroom suite occupies the majority of the top floor having a large dressing room, bedroom with wall to wall wardrobes and a restful contemporary styled bathroom which includes a large walk in shower and a modern freestanding bath from which you can see the hills.
The lower ground floor is a useful combination of bedrooms or bedroom suite which includes a sitting room if required. There is a superb contemporary bathroom with bath and walk in shower and a hall with access to the lower courtyard from this level. Being light and spacious, this area would make an ideal flat for teenagers, an apartment for a nanny or guest accommodation if required.
The advantage for the houses on the upper end of the terrace is that they have wider plots and this corresponds to the garden and parking area, which is beautifully terraced and paved and designed to offer good sized seating areas over two levels. The boundary walls are topped with box hedging which gives privacy and makes this a perfect entertaining space. A gate opens to the secure parking for approximately three cars which has electric sliding solid gates to the lane behind.
This is a fabulous example of the Regency architecture that Cheltenham is renowned for. Having been so beautifully restored, the house offers the best combination of period features and practical contemporary living.
Cheltenham is regarded as the most complete Regency town in England and Imperial Square is one of Cheltenham’s finest Regency terraces. Over looking Imperial Gardens, Kensington House sits at arguably the best end of the terrace with un-interrupted views over the magnificent floral displays which are produced throughout the seasons. There is secure parking to the rear but it is also possible to purchase a residents permit from the council for parking on the road to the front.
