Since moving to Brixton 17 years ago the area has become one of the most vibrant and exciting destinations in London, affording a wonderful lifestyle, and The Citadel, while located on the quieter Brixton Hill is just a short distance from the central hub, with the iconic Brixton Village and its numerous shops, restaurants and pop-ups, plus the brilliant Ritzy Cinema, nearby Brockwell Park; complete with open-air Lido and Brixton and Herne Hill Farmers markets. One of the great joys of living here is to be able to do so much locally, though transport links with train, tube and many great bus routes, makes everywhere in London easily accessible. The Citadel too has changed. As an interior designer, I was keen to make the most of this former Salvation Army building’s potential. It’s incredible sense of scale, and particularly volume with fantastic ceiling heights, while feeling funky and loft-like in parts also has elements of a cosy family home.
